ALLERGIES

An allergy is a capacity to react abnormally to specific substances which in most people cause no reaction at all. This is a general word used for all kinds of hypersensitivity's. The specific substance that causes the allergy is the allergen, for example some babies under 12 months old have allergies to some baby foods such as cow's milk, cereals or meat. Whatever it is in the makeup of one of these that cause the allergy is the allergen. Some processed foods contain chemical additives and cause allergies.
