ARTHRITIS

There is much confusion in this field because of the many terms used to describe arthritis and its associated diseases. Rheumatism is only a vague term and is not an ideal diagnosis to describe aches and pains that seem to the patient or doctor to arise in the joints, muscles, ligaments or tendons. Accurate use of the term Arthritis is strictly to indicate actual inflammation in the joints or the surrounding structures, nothing else. The problem is that doctors and layperson alike use the word as a convenient term to describe all sorts of rheumatic disorders. When arthritis is the diagnosis, the first thought is, this will naturally lead to a crippling disability, which in most cases is unfounded. This is why the term arthritis as a blanket for all rheumatic disorders is wrong, arthritic complaints are only those concerned with inflammation of the joints. Hot and cold showers (as described in the beauty hints) are very good for easing the suffering due to arthritis. Acupuncture is sometimes successful in relieving arthritis.
