Are pressure sores that develop on the skin of bedridden, unconscious or immobile patients. Victims of spinal injuries or a stroke that result in a loss of sensation are common sufferers. Incontinence causing constantly wet skin can also be instrumental as a factor. They start as red, marks in areas that become painful then purple before a break down of the skin causing open sores.
