CANCER

The word itself strikes terror into the hearts of every living human being. It is the most puzzling of all diseases. When anyone talks of cancer, there is always a feeling of hopelessness, because even though the dreadful disease kills millions of people, no one really knows what causes cancer. Therefore there is no discovery of a definite cure for it in sight. Many cancers are now controlled and for some there are cures, but the word still causes the same terror.

A few years ago scientists made the discovery that cancer is a product of a malfunction of the body's immune system. This by no means explains cancer to the full. There are many scientifically proven causes of cancer, there are details of some causes in this section. One explanation as to the makeup of cancer cells is that every cell in our body has a molecule on the outside that passes messages to a molecule on the inside. The outside molecule has an indentation that we shall call a lock. When the brain sends a message to a certain cell in the body, the message takes the form of a key that fits the indentation lock exactly. Once inserted, the message passes on from the outside molecule to the inside molecule, this message is a demand from the brain for the cell to multiply.
