EPILEPSY

Epilepsy is complex so there are three things that have to be considered when planning a diet to treat it.

  • A deficiency of magnesium has been found to have an involvement in epilepsy so it is essential that foods rich in magnesium should be adequately supplied.
  • Epileptic seizures can be brought on by an allergic reaction to certain food substances or simply some foods.
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) is commonly involved in epilepsy so it is also essential for the diet to be anti-hypoglycaemia in nature. If hypoglycaemia is found to be so involved then follow the program and anti-hypoglycaemic diet I suggest under the heading Hypoglycaemia.

It is often found that Epileptics have poor assimilation of minerals such as, calcium and magnesium particularly if they are taken with meals. If this is found to be obvious, calcium and magnesium supplements should be given to the patient to take on an empty stomach with fruit juice or with one tablet of Betaine Hydrochloride...(more)
