(Buerger's Disease)

This is a rare disorder where the veins and nerves in the legs and sometimes in the arms become severely inflamed. Narrowing the arteries and blocking off the blood supply to the fingers and toes. This eventually causes gangrene (a part of the body that has lost its vitality and in turn causes the effected part to decay). If gangrene does develop, the sufferer will usually nave the affected limb, toe or finger amputated.
